SOMERSET — Vermont State Police arrested a 24-year-old Bennington man on a charge of driving under the influence after he crashed his vehicle into a tree and fled the scene July 14.
Authorities said they were dispatched to the incident on Somerset Rd around 11:48 p.m. following reports of a collision involving property damage and a possibly impaired driver.
The investigation determined that Charles Anderson was operating his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol when he crashed.
Anderson subsequently left the scene but was located later in Bennington.
Anderson was taken into custody and processed for the DUI offense.
He was released to a sober party and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date to respond to the charge.
