BRAINTREE — Three individuals were apprehended Thursday evening by Braintree Police detectives during a burglary surveillance operation.
The suspects are believed to be part of an organized international theft ring known for sophisticated burglary tactics.
The arrests occurred on July 11 following an investigation into a June 20 burglary in the Messina Woods neighborhood.
The investigation indicated that the suspects utilized a hidden camera and detailed surveillance to target homes.
After a neighbor discovered a camouflaged camera in the area, police set up a surveillance operation, suspecting further criminal activity.
At approximately 10:30 p.m., a man dressed in black and wearing a mask was seen parking a black Audi SUV with Florida plates near the previously burgled home.
The man, later identified as Carlos Ocampo-Carrillo, 47, of Flushing, New York, was observed approaching the hidden camera before being apprehended after a foot chase and struggle with police.
Two women, Diana Maria Alvarado-Rosano, 34, also from Flushing, and Lizbeth Hernandez-Gantiva, 23, of New York City, were detained in the vehicle.
All three suspects face multiple charges, including conspiracy and possession of burglarious tools.
Ocampo-Carrillo, who has a criminal history in California and New York, is also charged with assault and battery on a police officer and resisting arrest.
The suspects, all Colombian citizens, may face federal immigration charges.
The Braintree Police Department acknowledged the support of Immigration and Custom Enforcement – Emergency Removal Operations (Boston) in the case.
The arraignment took place at Quincy District Court, where the male suspect was held on cash bail.
