Two arrested for warrant violations, one for DUI in Providence area traffic stops

PROVIDENCE — Two individuals were apprehended on July 12 for outstanding warrants and driving infringements following traffic stops conducted by Rhode Island State Troopers.

At 2:30 p.m., troopers detained Brandon Kjenstad, 28, of Pawtucket, during a vehicle stop on Atwells Avenue.

Kjenstad was arrested for a Sixth District Court Bench Warrant for failing to appear for arraignment on an initial charge of driving with a suspended or revoked license issued by the Pawtucket Police Department.

Additionally, he was charged with driving with a suspended license for the fourth or subsequent offense.

Following the arrest, Kjenstad was processed at State Police Headquarters and transported to the Adult Correctional Institution – Men’s Intake.

Earlier that day, at 12:01 a.m., Xavier Monteiro, 23, of Warwick, was taken into custody on Route 6 in Providence.

Monteiro was wanted on a Kent County Superior Court Bench Warrant for not appearing for his arraignment on the original charge of possession of a stolen vehicle.

The warrant was issued by the Warwick Police Department.

After being processed at the headquarters, Monteiro was also transported to the Adult Correctional Institution – Men’s Intake.

On the following day, July 13, at 3:25 a.m., Vincent Leonardo, 31, of North Providence, was arrested in Johnston on Killingly Street.

Leonardo faced charges of driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/or drugs – first offense, and refusal to submit to a chemical test – first offense.

He was taken to State Police Headquarters, processed, and held overnight pending his morning arraignment.
