Search underway for missing New Sharon man last seen in Farmington

NEW SHARON — The Maine Warden Service is actively searching for Michael Altmaier, a 75-year-old man from New Sharon who has been missing since Monday.

Altmaier, described as 5 feet 11 inches tall with sparse gray hair and weighing approximately 220 pounds, has not been in contact with family or friends since his disappearance.

He was last seen leaving his residence on Monday and was observed driving on Colby Miller Road in Farmington.

He was supposed to attend a scheduled meeting in Weld but never arrived.

His car was later found at the Mount Blue State Park Scenic Overlook, located off Center Hill Road in Weld.

Authorities are seeking assistance from anyone who may have seen Altmaier at the scenic overlook, hiking on the trails, or has any information on his whereabouts.

The Maine Warden Service urges those with information to contact them at 207-624-7076.

The search efforts continue as both the local community and Altmaier’s family await any news on his condition and location.
