NORWALK — A local felon admitted in federal court to possessing a loaded handgun with an obliterated serial number, announced U.S. Attorney Vanessa Roberts Avery today.

Patrick Elmore, 32, entered his guilty plea yesterday in Bridgeport after a joint operation involving the FBI’s Bridgeport Safe Streets Task Force and local law enforcement led to his arrest on April 12.

At the time, Elmore was found with a loaded SCCY, model CPX-2, 9mm semiautomatic handgun.

The arrest was part of an investigation into gang violence across Bridgeport, Norwalk, and Stamford.

Court documents reveal that Elmore has a history of felony convictions, including drug distribution and weapon possession.

Federal law prohibits felons from owning firearms or ammunition that has crossed state lines or international borders.

Since his federal arrest on May 25, Elmore has remained in custody.

The charge of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon carries a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.

A sentencing date has yet to be determined.
