BOSTON — A 33-year-old Boston man was arrested Friday in connection with an animal cruelty case involving three deceased dogs found in an abandoned U-Haul truck earlier this week.
William Cobb was taken into custody around 12:30 p.m. in Weymouth by members of the Youth Violence Strike Force and the Massachusetts State Police Gang Unit, according to the Boston Police Department.
Cobb was wanted on a warrant for three counts of animal cruelty issued by the Dorchester District Court.
The arrest stems from an incident on Tuesday when officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle at 69 Edgewater Drive in Hyde Park at 8:58 p.m. Upon arrival, police discovered an abandoned U-Haul truck emitting a strong odor.
Inside the vehicle, officers found the bodies of three dogs.
Animal Control was called to the scene to remove the deceased animals.
Cobb is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
The investigation is ongoing.
