SHREWSBURY — A routine traffic stop led to drug trafficking charges for a Worcester woman on Monday night.

At 7:41 p.m. on July 8, 2024, Shrewsbury police officers stopped a gray 2013 Chevy Tahoe on Boston Turnpike near Harrington Avenue for motor vehicle infractions.

Officers discovered the vehicle was uninsured and unregistered, and the driver did not have an active license.

The driver, identified as Jezebel Diaz, 34, of Worcester, was found in possession of approximately 6 grams of suspected powder cocaine and 31 grams of suspected crack cocaine, police said.

The threshold for cocaine trafficking in Massachusetts is 18 grams.

Officers also reported finding several prescription pills for which Diaz had no prescription, as well as a small knife.

Diaz was arrested and charged with trafficking a Class B substance, possession of a Class E substance, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

Officers Juaire and Anding conducted the initial stop, with Officer Carroll and Sgt. Caviston assisting in the arrest.
