SHELDON — Vermont State Police arrested a Montgomery man for aggravated assault and filing a false report following a March 4 altercation that included gunfire.

Authorities say Kyle Jacobs, 45, initially claimed to police that he was shot at by two individuals on Kittell Road in Sheldon at 6:39 p.m.

However, the investigation revealed Jacobs had discharged a weapon during the incident.

Months after the confrontation, on July 10, Jacobs was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault and providing a false report.

After appearing before a judge at the Franklin Superior Court – Criminal Division, he was released with conditions pending further proceedings.
