New Haven hit-and-run leaves one dead, police seek suspect

NEW HAVEN — A 64-year-old West Haven resident died early Wednesday morning after a hit-and-run collision at the intersection of South Frontage Road and College Street, according to the New Haven Police Department.

Authorities report that at approximately 4:30 a.m., a vehicle ran a red light on South Frontage Road and struck another vehicle crossing the intersection on College Street.

The driver responsible for the collision fled the scene immediately after the incident.

The victim, whose identity has not been released pending family notification, was transported to a local hospital but succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash.

The New Haven Police Department has closed the area around South Frontage Road and MLK Boulevard to investigate the accident and is asking anyone with information to come forward.
