BOSTON — Boston Police officers in Dorchester arrested a suspect and recovered an unserialized firearm following a call about a person with a gun on Tuesday.
At about 12:46 p.m., on July 9, officers assigned to District C-11 (Dorchester) responded to a 911 call concerning an unwanted guest with a firearm in a residence on Tremlett St. Upon arrival, officers found an open door at the rear of the building.
A protective sweep of the apartment led to the discovery of William Wood, 50, of Roxbury, asleep on a couch with a firearm under his head.
The officers secured the firearm without incident and took Wood into custody.
C-11 Detectives, after obtaining a search warrant, recovered a Strike Industries P80C home-built Glock 19 style 9mm handgun with no serial number from the apartment.
The handgun was loaded with three rounds in a 10-round magazine and one round in the chamber.
Wood is facing charges of carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, and unlawful possession of ammunition.
He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
