Williamstown man arrested for domestic assault

WILLIAMSTOWN — A 44-year-old man was arrested Monday on charges of domestic assault and committing an offense in the presence of a child, Vermont State Police said.

Brian Deforge of Williamstown was taken into custody after troopers responded to a report of a family fight at approximately 5:52 p.m. on July 8.

Upon arrival, investigators determined that Deforge had caused pain or injury to a family member, according to police.

The incident occurred in the presence of a child.

Authorities did not release the name of the victim, in accordance with state policy on domestic violence cases.

Deforge was transported to the State Police Berlin Barracks for processing.

He was issued court-ordered conditions of release and a citation to appear in Orange County Superior Court to face the charges.

The investigation was conducted by troopers from the Vermont State Police Berlin Barracks.
