Pedestrian struck, injured in Nantucket

NANTUCKET — A pedestrian was seriously injured early this morning after being struck by a vehicle on Tom Nevers Road, according to the Nantucket Police Department.

At 6:54 a.m., police and fire departments responded to the scene near 51 Tom Nevers Road following a call from Brendan Lafferty, the driver involved in the collision.

The pedestrian, identified as Steven Cohen of 21 Flintlock Road, was transported to Nantucket Cottage Hospital before being airlifted off the island by the United States Coast Guard for further treatment.

Authorities reported that Lafferty, who resides at 101 Tom Nevers Road, will face several motor vehicle infractions in connection with the incident.

The Nantucket Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police are currently investigating the circumstances of the accident.
