WHITINGHAM — Vermont State Police arrested a Marlboro man late Sunday night after responding to a report of a family fight at a residence on VT RT 100.
Troopers received the report at approximately 10:22 p.m. and upon arrival, learned that the suspect, John Elting, 35, had fled the scene.
Investigation revealed that Elting had assaulted a household or family member using a weapon.
Authorities located Elting shortly after the incident.
He was taken into custody, processed at the Westminster State Police Barracks, and was held without bail.
Elting is being detained at Southern State Correctional Facility and is scheduled for a court appearance at the Vermont Superior Court, Windham Criminal Division, on July 8 at 12:30 p.m.
