Portland traffic stop results in drug trafficking arrests

PORTLAND — A routine traffic stop for an illegal U-turn just after midnight on July 8 led to the arrest of two individuals from Yarmouth on drug trafficking charges, according to the Portland Police Department.

Cole Swan, 18, was charged with aggravated trafficking of scheduled drugs, unlawful possession of cocaine, and violating conditions of release.

He was booked into Cumberland County Jail following the stop.

A 16-year-old juvenile, also from Yarmouth, faces similar charges of aggravated trafficking of scheduled drugs and unlawful possession of cocaine and was taken to the Long Creek Youth Development Center.

Officers seized 62 grams of cocaine base, 8.17 grams of Cocaine HCL, $1,550 in cash, a digital scale, and a loaded handgun during the incident.

The Portland Police Department is appealing to the public for further information related to this case or other criminal activities.
