Police investigate road rage shooting in Somersworth

SOMERSWORTH — Police are investigating a felony reckless conduct incident involving a firearm that occurred downtown near the Maine state line on July 7.

At around 8:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to Market Street following reports of a road rage situation where shots were allegedly fired.

Witnesses provided a description of the suspect and their vehicle, which was said to have lingered in the area briefly after the incident.

A “Be on the Lookout” alert was issued to nearby law enforcement agencies, including those in the State of Maine.

Within approximately 10 minutes, at 8:40 p.m., Berwick, Maine, police located the vehicle on Rochester Street and conducted a traffic stop.

The driver, identified as the person of interest, was detained and subsequently released.

The vehicle has been impounded pending a search warrant.

The Somersworth Police Department’s investigation is ongoing, and charges are anticipated.
