BREWER — A man was arrested for aggravated drug trafficking in the Twin City Plaza parking lot across from a designated Safe Zone children’s park, the Brewer Police Department reported.

At 2:25 p.m. on July 5, police were alerted to a man acting erratically in the parking lot.

Officer Chubbuck, assisted by Sergeant Nickerson and Officer Johnston, identified the man as 56-year-old Shawn Larts, who had no known address.

Larts was on probation and had an outstanding arrest warrant for Aggravated Trafficking in Scheduled Drugs.

Upon arrest, police found Larts in possession of over $4,000 in cash and substantial amounts of illegal drugs, including 62 grams of fentanyl, 120 grams of cocaine, and 15 grams of crack.

The arrest location was less than 1,000 feet from the children’s park at the Ferris Community Center, enhancing the severity of the charges due to city ordinances.

Larts, who has prior felony drug convictions, was booked into the Penobscot County Jail.

He faces two counts of Aggravated Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs for the fentanyl and cocaine found on his person.
