ALBANY — Two men face charges following a domestic incident involving a firearm in Albany, according to state police.

Kyle Doherty, 24, of Newport, was arrested on charges of first-degree aggravated domestic assault and burglary. William Doherty, 61, of Albany, was cited for reckless endangerment.

The incident occurred today at around 1:30 p.m. on Bonneau Road in Albany. Vermont State Police and the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a domestic assault, burglary, and firearm use.

Authorities say Kyle Doherty allegedly assaulted a victim and broke into a residence. William Doherty is accused of firing a firearm in an unsafe manner. No serious injuries were reported.

Kyle Doherty was taken to the Derby Barracks and later released with a citation. William Doherty was cited to appear in court.

The victim’s identity was not disclosed, as per Vermont State Police policy.

The investigation is ongoing, and no further details were immediately available.
