BOSTON — Officers from the Boston Police Department’s Youth Violence Strike Force arrested a Mattapan man on firearm charges following a traffic stop in Dorchester on Friday afternoon.

At about 12:48 p.m., on Friday, July 5, police stopped a vehicle with uneven window tinting on Columbia Road and Dorchester Avenue.

As officers approached, they noticed the driver, later identified as 25-year-old Jordan Galloway, reaching to the right side of the car.

Upon requesting Galloway’s license and registration, officers observed his hand shaking, heavy breathing, and profuse sweating.

After a further investigation, and with Galloway out of the vehicle, officers conducted a pat frisk and discovered a Ruger 380 firearm with one round in the chamber and four rounds in the magazine.

Galloway was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.

He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
