Barnstable police investigate string of vehicle break-ins

1 min read

BARNSTABLE — Police are probing a series of vehicle break-ins in Centerville and Hyannis over recent nights and are urging residents to follow precautionary measures.

Victims who have not yet reported incidents or those with potential video footage from late night to early morning in the past few days are asked to contact the Barnstable Police Department at 508-778-3874.

Authorities also advise residents who discover their vehicles have been broken into to immediately contact the police and refrain from touching the vehicle or its contents to preserve any possible fingerprints or evidence.

The department is recommending the adoption of the “9PM Routine,” a preventive practice where residents ensure their valuables are secured, vehicles locked, houses secured, and an outside light is left on to deter criminal activity.
