Man fatally shot on Shawmut Avenue, Boston police seek information

BOSTON — Boston Police Department officers responded to a reported shooting on Shawmut Avenue early Friday, where they discovered a man with life-threatening gunshot wounds.

The incident occurred at about 1:33 a.m. near 618 Shawmut Avenue in the South End neighborhood.

Upon arrival, officers from District D-4 found the adult male victim and quickly transported him to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The BPD’s Homicide Unit is conducting a death investigation and actively reviewing the circumstances of the shooting.

Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Homicide Unit at 617-343-4470.

To ensure the safety of informants, the Boston Police Department emphasizes that the identity of individuals providing tips anonymously will be protected.
