WATERBURY — Vermont State Police arrested a local man on allegations of unlawful trespass after reportedly trying to break into a residence on July 4.

Authorities said they received a report around 9:49 p.m. of two individuals attempting to enter a home using a ladder.

The residence was expected to be vacant at the time.

Troopers arrived at the scene, conducted a search, and found 53-year-old Theodore Farnham inside the property.

Farnham, a Waterbury resident, was taken into custody without incident.

After being processed at the Berlin State Police Barracks, Farnham was released with a citation.

He is scheduled to appear in court to face the charges at a later date.

The report did not mention the second individual allegedly involved in the incident.
