Multiple arrests made in Providence on charges ranging from drug possession to child solicitation

PROVIDENCE — A series of arrests were made by the ACI Investigations Unit and other task forces on July 3, resulting in multiple individuals facing charges including drug possession, fugitive status, and child solicitation.

Luther C. Parente, 40, from Little Compton, was charged with Fugitive From Justice and waived extradition proceedings after being presented as a fugitive out of Massachusetts.

Luis D. Medina, 30, and Chhaiya Choy, 35, both from Providence, along with Nicholas T. Dubois, 33, also from Providence, and Steven J. Lafazia, 22, from Coventry, were arraigned on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance Schedule I-V.

Early in the morning, Quincy DeJesus, 27, from Providence, was arrested by the HIDTA Task Force on multiple counts including possession with intent to deliver fentanyl and cocaine.

Charles Czerwein, 43, from Attleboro, MA, was charged by the Computer Crimes Unit/Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force with indecent solicitation of a child and electronically disseminating indecent material to a minor.

Later in the day, Jeffrey Dortch, 56, from Woonsocket, was arrested on charges of possession with intent to deliver marijuana and fentanyl, while Yeury Guerrero Baez, 27, from Johnston, faced numerous charges including possession of a firearm while committing a controlled substance violation and possession with intent to deliver cocaine and fentanyl.

All individuals were processed and arraigned, with some released to the custody of the Sheriffs Department and others held pending future court dates.
