Somerville police respond to multiple assaults, break-in

SOMERVILLE — Somerville police responded to several assault incidents and a commercial break-in over a one-week period in late June and early July, according to department reports.

On June 28 at 9:25 p.m., officers were called to 275 Broadway for an assault.

The victim told police he was struck with a wooden object during an argument, suffering wounds to his arm and hand.

Earlier that day at 12:41 p.m., police responded to a dispute at Statue Park where two men had been fighting.

One of the individuals reportedly brandished a knife during the altercation.

Both men were identified by officers.

On July 2 at 6:39 a.m., another knife-related incident occurred when police were called to 4 College Ave.

A victim reported being in a fight with a male suspect who pulled out a knife.

The suspect was identified by responding officers.

In a separate incident on June 28 at 1:24 p.m., police investigated a break-in at a Highland Avenue business.

The reporting party said three checks were missing from an office.

Surveillance footage showed a male entering the business while carrying a knife.

Police also logged 5 motor vehicle thefts, 5 package thefts, 9 bike thefts, 3 motor vehicle vandalisms, 2 other vandalisms and 3 car break-ins during the period.
