NORTH HAVEN — A suspected gas leak has resulted in the closure of a significant stretch of Washington Ave today, with authorities urging drivers to seek alternate routes.
At around 11:15 a.m., On Scene Media reported that a construction company may have struck a gas line along Washington Ave (Rt-5), leading to the immediate shutdown of traffic from the 260 block near Arby’s, extending several blocks toward Downtown North Haven.
Emergency crews, including police and fire departments, have cordoned off the affected areas and are working diligently to address the issue.
Motorists are advised to avoid the vicinity and plan their travel accordingly.
