NASHUA — A tanker truck crash early Saturday morning closed two northbound lanes on the F.E. Everett Turnpike and sent the driver to the hospital with serious injuries, New Hampshire State Police said.

The crash occurred at 12:46 a.m. just north of the Exit 8 onramp when a white 2021 Kenworth hauling a tanker of motor oil and hydraulic fluid lost control and ran off the road to the right, according to investigators.

State Troopers from the Troop B barracks responded to the scene and found the driver entrapped in the cab.

First responders freed the driver, who was then airlifted to Lahey Hospital & Medical Center.

The driver’s identity has not been released.

The tanker overturned and rolled into the wood line, but its contents remained contained, police said.

The right two northbound lanes of the turnpike are expected to remain closed into the early afternoon while investigators examine the scene and remove the tanker truck.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact Trooper Brian Knell at [email protected].

The investigation is ongoing, and all aspects of the crash are being examined.
