New London woman dies after being found unresponsive in parking lot

NEW LONDON — A woman found bleeding and unresponsive in a parking lot has died, police said Saturday.

Lindsay Melher, 46, of Groton, Connecticut, was discovered with life-threatening injuries at 10:47 p.m. Friday in the parking lot of 48 Ocean Ave., according to the New London Police Department.

Emergency responders provided immediate medical aid before transporting Melher to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, where she later died.

The cause and manner of death will be determined by the State of Connecticut Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding Melher’s death.
