Motorcyclist killed in Colchester crash

COLCHESTER — A motorcyclist died in a single-vehicle crash late Monday night in Colchester, police said.

Mathew Billings of Essex Junction was pronounced dead at the scene after his motorcycle went off the road at the intersection of Main Street, East Road and Mill Pond Road, according to the Colchester Police Department.

The crash occurred at approximately 11:39 p.m. Emergency responders found Billings and his motorcycle on the lawn of 899 Main Street.

Initial investigation indicates the motorcycle was traveling west on Main Street through the intersection when Billings lost control and veered off the right side of the roadway.

Police said speed is being considered as a factor in the crash.

Colchester Rescue, Colchester Fire Department and Essex Police Department assisted at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
