MERRIMACK — A 37-year-old man faces multiple charges after fleeing from police and crashing into a residential yard early Thursday morning.

Bryan Spellissy was arrested and charged with DWI, aggravated DWI, disobeying a police officer, reckless operation and criminal mischief following the incident, which began at 1:54 a.m. on Daniel Webster Highway.

Police say they attempted to stop Spellissy for speeding near William Street.

Instead of pulling over, Spellissy allegedly accelerated at high speed onto McGaw Bridge Road, where he struck a guardrail before plowing through brush and coming to rest in a yard.

Officers found Spellissy on the ground outside the heavily damaged vehicle, bleeding from his face.

Police observed signs of possible alcohol impairment.

Merrimack EMS transported Spellissy to a hospital for evaluation.

After his release, he was taken to the police department for processing.

Spellissy was released on personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit Merrimack District Court on Aug. 15, 2024.
