BRIDPORT — A Bridport man faces charges of driving under the influence following a two-vehicle crash on Vermont Route 22a early Sunday morning.
Luis Sotero, 29, was driving north on Route 22a near the intersection with Route 125 at approximately 1:31 a.m. when his 2008 Subaru Impreza crossed the centerline and collided with a southbound 2018 Freightliner Cascadia truck, according to Vermont State Police.
Sotero sustained minor injuries and was transported to Porter Medical Center.
The truck driver, Mohit Nonamegiven, 24, of Fresno, California, was uninjured.
While speaking with Sotero, troopers detected signs of impairment and took him into custody for DUI.
He was later released with a citation to appear in Addison County Superior Court on Sept. 16 at 12:30 p.m.
Sotero’s vehicle was totaled in the crash.
The truck sustained damage to its left rear.
Route 22a was reduced to one lane for about 2.5 hours while the vehicles were removed.
Sotero also faces charges of driving on roadways laned for traffic, operating without liability insurance, and operating a vehicle not inspected within 15 days of Vermont registration.
The Bridport Fire Department, Middlebury Regional EMS, Snow and Tow Services, and Treadway Hauling and Repair assisted at the scene.
