WEARE — Just after 2 p.m. on Saturday, New Hampshire Fish and Game were alerted by state police about an ATV accident within the All Seasons Campground that left an adult and a minor injured.

Authorities, including Weare Police and Ambulance, New Boston Police and Ambulance, and Henniker Ambulance, along with a Conservation Officer, responded to the scene.

According to officials, 55-year-old Thomas Silva of Derry was operating the ATV with the minor passenger when they approached a junction.

The minor accidentally accelerated the vehicle, causing Silva to lose control and roll the ATV.

Silva sustained minor injuries, whereas the minor suffered serious injuries and was transported to Concord Hospital by Henniker Ambulance.

Neither the minor nor Silva were wearing helmets or protective gear at the time of the crash.

Officials are also investigating the potential role of alcohol in the incident.

New Hampshire Fish and Game takes this opportunity to remind off-highway recreational vehicle (OHRV) riders that state law requires individuals under 18 to wear a helmet.
