Two arrested in separate incidents by Rhode Island State Police

SCITUATE — Two individuals were arrested over the weekend in separate incidents following traffic stops by Rhode Island State Police.

On June 29 at 11:15 a.m., Troopers apprehended Shalomah Dia, 31, of New Britain, Connecticut, on an affidavit and arrest warrant for domestic simple assault from the Providence Police Department.

Dia was stopped on Route 6 in Johnston and later transferred to the Providence Police Department after processing at headquarters.

The following night, on June 30 at 11:13 p.m., Ernesto Enriques, 45, of Providence, was arrested for driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drugs and refusing to submit to a chemical test.

This marked Enriques’ first offense for DUI and second for chemical test refusal.

The arrest was conducted on Route 295 in Smithfield.

Enriques was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks, arraigned, and released to a responsible adult.
