Man arrested for aggravated domestic assault in Newport Center

NEWPORT — A Newport Center man was arrested early Sunday morning on charges of aggravated domestic assault, according to the Vermont State Police.

Authorities were called to a residence on Church Street at around 5:52 a.m. following a report of a domestic assault.

The investigation revealed that 42-year-old Justin Mills of Holland had assaulted a member of his household.

Mills was taken into custody and processed at the Derby Barracks.

He was subsequently held without bail and transported to Northern State Correctional Facility.

The Vermont State Police have not released the name of the victim, adhering to policies that protect the identities of individuals involved in domestic violence or sexual assault cases.
