Worcester police investigate fatal pedestrian crash involving teen

WORCESTER — Worcester Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred on Belmont Street, where a 13-year-old girl was struck by an Acura and later pronounced dead at the hospital.

At approximately 2:28 p.m. on June 27, officers were dispatched to the area of 370 Belmont St. following reports of the crash.

Upon arrival, they found the injured teenager and the vehicle involved.

She was immediately transported to the hospital with serious injuries but did not survive.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the Acura was heading west on Belmont Street when it collided with the girl as she was crossing.

The driver of the Acura has not been named, and the investigation remains ongoing as the Crash Reconstruction Unit continues to piece together the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
