Suspect in Roxbury break-in linked to earlier Dorchester incident

BOSTON — Police arrested a man early Friday morning after a break-in in Roxbury and later connected him to a separate incident in Dorchester last week.

At about 2:02 a.m., on June 28, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested Cheval Holmes, 54, of Dorchester, following a radio call about a break-in near Blue Hill Ave. and Edgewood St.

Responding to the scene, officers located Holmes inside a trailer with burglary tools and discovered he had multiple warrants for his arrest.

Further investigation by B-2 detectives identified Holmes as a suspect in a previous breaking and entering that occurred at approximately 6:15 p.m., on June 23, near 65 Norfolk St, Dorchester.

Holmes faces a slew of charges including five counts of breaking and entering a vehicle/boat at night, three counts of breaking and entering a building at night, breaking and entering a building during the daytime putting a person in fear, larceny from a truck, larceny from a building, attempted larceny, three counts of trespassing, and possession of Class B drugs.

He was additionally charged with breaking and entering a building at night, possession of burglary tools, trespassing, and possession of Class B drugs subsequent offense.

Holmes is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.

The Boston Police Department continues to investigate the incidents.
