Student dies in accident at Vermont high school

JERICHO — A student died Thursday following an incident in the parking lot of Mount Mansfield Union High School, state police said.

The 18-year-old male victim was found trapped beneath a vehicle around 4:10 p.m., according to authorities.

Emergency responders transported him to the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, where he was later pronounced dead.

Vermont State Police received a 911 call reporting someone appeared stuck under a car in the school parking lot.

Troopers arrived and began rendering aid before the student was taken to the hospital.

The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of relatives.

Authorities said the incident does not appear suspicious.

The investigation is ongoing.

Underhill-Jericho Fire Department and the Department of Motor Vehicles assisted state police at the scene.
