POWNAL — Vermont State Police arrested two men following a dispute that escalated to gunfire Thursday night in this southern Vermont town.
William Danforth, 58, of Pownal, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly firing a shot into the air during a confrontation at a residence on Pine Ridge Drive around 8:58 p.m., police said.
Nathen Susee, 34, of North Bennington, faces charges of aggravated disorderly conduct and unlawful trespass in connection with the incident.
Troopers responded to the scene after receiving a report that Susee was on the property trying to instigate a fight with residents.
No injuries were reported.
Danforth was released on court-ordered conditions and is scheduled to appear in Bennington Criminal Court at 12:30 p.m. Friday.
Susee was issued a citation to appear in court at a later date.
