ISLE LA MOTTE — Vermont State Police arrested a fugitive from New York on Thursday following a tip from the New York Drug Task Force.
Kristen Carnahan, 38, of Peru, N.Y., was apprehended at approximately 7:49 p.m. on Quarry Road in Isle La Motte.
Carnahan was wanted on a full-extradition warrant from New York for criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree.
Troopers, assisted by U.S. Border Patrol and New York Drug Task Force units, located Carnahan in a camper on Quarry Road.
The camper was determined to be stolen from Gary Harris, 68, of Champlain, N.Y.
Authorities were alerted to Carnahan’s presence in the area at about 5:47 p.m. She was taken into custody approximately two hours later.
Following processing at the St. Albans Barracks, Carnahan was transported to Chittenden County Correctional Center and held on $30,000 bail.
Carnahan faces charges of being a fugitive from justice and possession of stolen property.
She is scheduled to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Grand Isle County Criminal Division, on June 28, 2024, at 8:30 a.m. to answer to these charges.
