DANVILLE — A two-vehicle collision on U.S. Route 2 in Danville Wednesday afternoon left one driver with minor injuries and caused significant traffic disruption.
The crash occurred around 2:46 p.m. near the Danville Animal Hospital when a 2019 Subaru Outback driven by Michelle Downing, 47, of Orange rear-ended a 2018 GMC Yukon operated by Kimberly Prohaska, 40, of Danville.
According to Vermont State Police, Prohaska was stopped in the eastbound lane, preparing to turn left into the animal hospital and yielding to westbound traffic.
Downing, also traveling eastbound, failed to notice the stopped vehicle and collided with it at approximately 40 mph.
Downing sustained minor to moderate injuries to her torso, back, and neck.
She was transported by CALEX Ambulance Service to Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital for treatment.
Prohaska was uninjured.
The Subaru Outback was totaled in the crash, while the GMC Yukon sustained moderate damage.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
State police reported that alcohol was not a factor in the incident.
The crash caused temporary lane closures on U.S. 2 as emergency responders worked to clear the scene.
Danville Fire Department and Rolands Wrecker Service assisted state police at the crash site.
