Providence man arrested on warrant during traffic stop

PROVIDENCE — Rhode Island State Police arrested a Providence man on an outstanding warrant during a traffic stop Tuesday afternoon.

Troopers took Paola Taveras, 38, into custody at 1:50 p.m. on Richland Street after stopping his vehicle, according to state police.

Taveras, of Fairfield Avenue, was wanted on an arrest warrant for violation of a court order issued by the Providence Police Department.

After processing at state police headquarters, Taveras was turned over to Providence police.

The arrest stemmed from a routine traffic stop, authorities said.

No further details were provided about the underlying court order violation.
