Driver arrested for DUI after high-speed crash near school

BERKSHIRE — A local man faces charges of driving under the influence and negligent operation after crashing his vehicle near an elementary school Wednesday night.

Christopher Seagroves, 33, of Berkshire, was arrested after Vermont State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Route 118 at approximately 10:35 p.m. on June 26.

Troopers from the St. Albans Barracks detected signs of impairment while speaking with Seagroves at the scene.

Investigators determined he had been driving at speeds up to 80 mph before crashing in front of Berkshire Elementary School.

Seagroves was taken to the St. Albans State Police Barracks for processing.

He was later released with a citation to appear in Franklin County Superior Court Criminal Division.

This is Seagroves’ second DUI offense, according to police.
