SHELDON — A St. Albans man faces multiple charges after allegedly assaulting an ex-partner and two state troopers in Sheldon early Thursday morning.
Shane Robtoy, 38, was arrested and charged with domestic assault, violation of an abuse prevention order, interference with access to emergency services, resisting arrest and assault on law enforcement, according to Vermont State Police.
Troopers responded to a report of a possible domestic assault on Kittell Road around 3 a.m.
An investigation revealed Robtoy had assaulted a former partner and caused them to fear for their safety, police said.
When the victim attempted to contact emergency services, Robtoy allegedly took the phone from their hand.
Police also determined Robtoy had violated multiple conditions of an existing abuse prevention order.
As troopers took Robtoy into custody at the scene, he reportedly resisted arrest and assaulted the officers.
Both troopers sustained minor injuries.
Robtoy was processed at the St. Albans barracks and later lodged at Northwest State Correctional Facility.
He is scheduled to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Franklin County Criminal Division, at 1 p.m. Thursday to answer to the charges.
The state police do not release the names of victims of sexual assault or domestic violence.
