Naugatuck police issue warrant for suspect in child sexual assault case

NAUGATUCK — The Naugatuck Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating Jamel Young, who is wanted on multiple charges related to the sexual assault of a 9-year-old child.

An arrest warrant was issued for Young, outlining several charges including risk of injury to a minor under Connecticut General Statutes (CGS) 53-21(a)(2), sexual assault in the first degree CGS 53a-70, attempted sexual assault in the first degree CGS 53a-49/53a-70, and sexual assault in the fourth degree CGS 53a-73a.

The court has set a bond of $750,000 for Young’s arrest.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about Young’s whereabouts to contact Detective Rinaldi at 203-729-5222.

The department has also provided a confidential tip line at 203-720-1010 for those who wish to provide information anonymously.
