SOUTH WINDSOR — A 58-year-old East Windsor man was arrested Saturday on charges of operating under the influence and unsafe movement of a stopped vehicle after a collision at a local intersection.
Marc L. Mathieu was taken into custody at 1:46 p.m. following a motor vehicle accident at Route 5 and Sullivan Avenue, according to South Windsor police.
Officers responding to the scene determined Mathieu had put his vehicle in reverse after stopping beyond the stop line in the northbound lane of Route 5, striking the vehicle behind him.
Police said Mathieu appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.
He consented to field sobriety tests, which he failed.
Mathieu was processed and released on a $5,000 non-surety bond.
He is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court at 9 a.m. on July 8.
