NASHUA — A New Hampshire man faces charges in connection with a bank robbery that occurred Monday morning, Newport Police Chief Travis Bingham said.
Barry English, 38, of Nashua, N.H., was arrested and charged with robbery and assault.
At 9:42 a.m. Monday, Newport Police responded to Passumpsic Savings Bank, 1 Gardner St., for a reported robbery.
Bank staff told officers a suspect passed a note to a teller demanding large bills and verbally threatened staff with a firearm, though no weapon was shown.
The suspect left with an undisclosed amount of cash in a black BMW sedan with New Hampshire plates.
English was identified as a suspect following an investigation, and a regional alert was issued.
New Hampshire State Police located the suspect’s vehicle on Interstate 93 Monday afternoon.
After a pursuit, English was stopped and arrested in Plymouth, N.H.
