CAMPTON — A Nashua man wanted in connection with a bank robbery in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont was taken into custody by the New Hampshire State Police following an approximately 20-mile pursuit.
At 4:02 p.m. Saturday, State Troopers from the Troop F barracks assisted members of the State Police Mobile Enforcement Team with the pursuit of a vehicle on Interstate 93.
The vehicle, a blue 2013 BMW 550i, had been reported stolen from Nashua on Friday, and the driver was believed to be the suspect in a bank robbery at the Passumpsic Bank in Newport earlier Saturday.
During the robbery, the suspect threatened that he had a weapon.
Troopers later observed the vehicle traveling southbound on I-93 and, after the driver failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit began in Lincoln and ultimately ended in Campton, just north of the Plymouth town line, where a felony stop was conducted by Troopers and a State Police K-9.
The southbound travel lanes were briefly closed while the driver, identified as Barry A.
English Jr., 38, of Nashua, was taken into custody.
The case remains under investigation in cooperation with the Nashua Police Department and the Newport Police Department.
