Speeding driver arrested for DUI in Troy

TROY — A Jay man faces charges of driving under the influence and negligent operation after being stopped for speeding on Monday morning.

At 9:42 a.m., a Vermont State Police trooper on patrol observed a vehicle traveling 84 mph in a 50 mph zone on Route 101 near Belle Vista Road in Troy, according to police.

The trooper pulled over the vehicle and identified the driver as Cameren Goodwin, 30, of Jay.

During the stop, Goodwin showed signs of impairment, police said.

After further investigation, Goodwin was taken into custody and transported to the Vermont State Police barracks in Derby for processing.

Goodwin was later released with a citation to appear in Orleans County Criminal Court on the charges.

The incident remains under investigation by state police.
