South Portland police seek public’s help identifying person of interest

SOUTH PORTLAND — South Portland police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a person of interest in an ongoing investigation.

The South Portland Police Department released a statement on Tuesday requesting help from local residents, dubbing them “Sopo Sleuths,” to identify an individual captured in an image shared by the department.

Officer Akos Szekely is leading the investigation.

Police have not disclosed details about the nature of the case or why the individual is considered a person of interest.

Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact Officer Szekely via email at [email protected].

Alternatively, tips can be submitted anonymously through the department’s tip line at 207-347-4100.

As the investigation is ongoing, no further information has been released at this time.
