BRATTLEBORO — A homeless man was arrested twice in four days for separate incidents of burglary and theft, police said Tuesday.

Richard Lee, 39, was initially arrested on June 15 for a burglary that occurred on May 30 at a commercial building on Vernon Street.

Police said Lee stole over $1,800 worth of tools.

Lee was held on $1,000 bail and arraigned on June 17.

The following day at about 8:30 a.m., police received reports of a suspicious man dragging a kayak downtown.

Officers later learned the same individual had stolen a motor from a boat at the Brattleboro Central Fire Station.

Authorities located Lee shortly after and arrested him again.

Both the kayak and motor were recovered.

Lee was taken to the Brattleboro Police Department and held pending arraignment on June 19.
