Erratic driver arrested for DUI, excessive speed on Interstate 91

DUMMERSTON — A New Hampshire man faces multiple charges after allegedly driving erratically at high speeds while under the influence on Interstate 91 in southern Vermont.

Vermont State Police arrested Robert King, 63, of Charlestown, N.H., on June 22 following reports of an erratic driver traveling north on I-91 in Dummerston at approximately 10:32 a.m.

Troopers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop after observing several violations, including clocking the vehicle at 96 mph in a 65 mph zone.

During the stop, officers detected signs of impairment from King, leading to his arrest.

He was transported to the Westminster Barracks for processing.

King was issued a criminal citation for DUI (second offense), gross negligent operation, and excessive speed.

He is scheduled to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Windham Criminal Division, on July 16 at 8:30 a.m. to answer to these charges.

In addition to the criminal charges, King received multiple Vermont Civil Violation Complaints.
