Brattleboro police arrest 19-year-old in fatal stabbing at transportation center

BRATTLEBORO — A 19-year-old Brattleboro man was arrested and charged with second-degree murder following a stabbing at the Brattleboro Transportation Center, authorities announced Friday.

The suspect, Lavadus Williams, was taken into custody and processed at the Brattleboro Police Department before his scheduled appearance in Windham County Superior Court this afternoon.

Police responded to the incident at 77 Flat Street on June 20 at approximately 10:47 p.m., where they found the victim had been stabbed.

Emergency medical services from the Brattleboro Fire Department attempted life-saving efforts before transporting the victim to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital.

The victim later died from the injuries and was pronounced deceased.

Detective Lieutenant Gregory Eaton confirmed that Williams was identified as a suspect shortly after the incident.

He was arrested without further details regarding his capture being released.

The identity of the victim has not been disclosed, and the investigation is still ongoing.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact the Brattleboro Police Department.
